Fibrosol Case Study
Fibrosol are an international supplier of functional ingredients to the food industry, and are a leading innovator in global food technology. Fibrisol's warehouse in Melbourne, Australia contains state of the art blending and research and development facilities. Stephen White, Purchasing and Logistics Manager, had this to say about EWGA's installation of an electronic wire guidance system:
The electronic wire guidance system installed at our premises has drastically increased productivity. Fibrisol went from an 800 pallet warehouse to a 2500 pallet warehouse in a smaller space. The electronic wire guidance system has improved Fibrisol's productivity one hundred fold. We went from having 12 guys to 3 with an increased amount of stock. Everything runs much better, we have a lot more control of the stock and better organisation and the process of getting a new system installed was great.
Fibrisol opted for a high rise high density racking system with turret trucks. Previously, with conventional reach forklifts and racking, the warehouse staff could only achieve a through-put of 12-15 pallets per cycle. With the EWG system the through-put has been increased to 30-40 pallets per cycle. Turret trucks typically lift to 10-12 metres in height, creating more storage space within the same warehouse footprint using high rise racking.
This system has allowed Fibrisol to achieve a 200-300% gain in productivity, and a reduction in staff resulting in savings of between $60,000 and $80,000 per staff member per year.
The benefits of installing high rise high density warehousing with EWGA include:
- maximise usable space - increase operator productivity - achieve higher storage densities - decrease damage - decrease cleaning costs - improve safety for operators, pedestrians and other vehicles - reduce operator fatigue. |
